In low areas such as underground parking lots, it is often not possible to have a barrier open vertically. Then an articulated arm barrier is an excellent alternative.

In case of collision, this mechanism prevents damage to the cabinet. When the barrier arm gets hit by a vehicle, it pops out of it’s hinge. Without the breakaway accessory, the arm would stay in front of the vehicle after it gets hit, resulting in a broken hinge and most likely a damaged cabinet.
